Pastor Bill Sparkman and his wife, Anita, have been members of Harvest Church since 1985. He has been on staff as an Associate Pastor and Elder since 1998. Although his responsibilities are varied, his primary responsibility is to provide pastoral oversight for the Children’s Ministries. He carries high expectations for what God wants to do in and through the children. He is desperate for God’s anointing, and passionate to see children’s lives transformed through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is passionate about reaching the most reachable people group…the children.
Although Pastor Bill does not have a formal education related to ministry, the call of God into ministry has always been evident, and demonstrated by his service to the body of Christ. Since the age of 17, Pastor Bill’s primary involvement in other church bodies, including Harvest, was the leading of worship. When he came to Harvest in 1985, he was quickly asked to be a part of the worship team as well as provide leadership in the Royal Ranger Program. He has worn many hats over the years and strives to handle each responsibility with excellence.
Pastor Bill and his wife Anita have been married for over forty years; they have five adult children, and ten grandchildren. They currently reside in Chesapeake, Virginia, within 5 miles of where they both were born and raised. Pastor Bill doesn’t have much interest in hobbies or sports. His passion is for ministry. However, he does find his greatest joy being with his family. Many Sunday afternoons are devoted to family celebrations; birthdays, holidays, Fri-days, Satur-days, and most any other day they can find a reason to celebrate. Pastor Bill’s goal for his department is to provide impacting discipleship (equipping children to reach their destiny in Christ).
